The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind for me. Have you ever had those times in life where you're just holding on and trying not to get thrown from the car or taken out on a hospital gurney? When you finally find a moment of clarity you're asking yourself, "What just happened?"
That's my current season of life. I have a less-than-two week old little girl and another little girl who literally turned two last Friday. My wife and I aren't sleeping a lot and when we're awake, we're chasing the blazing ball of energy that is our two year old. We found out the Monday (or Tuesday— what day is it?) after our new daughter was home that our now two year old toddler was sick. We've been playing a fast paced game of keep away the infant ever since.
In these moments of life where we're not sure which direction is up, we can feel scared, worried, or discouraged. We can feel ready to give up. It's in these moments where we need to realize that we as Christians have reason to take heart. We have good reason to hold fast and stand strong.
The idea of God being completely in control (sovereign) sometimes rubs people the wrong way. But in reality, this is good news. When your head is spinning you can rest in the comfort that God is in control and He is for you. When you're not sure which day it is you can rest in the solace that the God who ordains the rising and setting of the sun each day holds you in His arms and that if He keep the Earth spinning, He is more than capable of seeing you through whatever tough season you're facing.
As a dad of two daughters, the most comforting thing to me is that I have a perfect heavenly Father who is far more capable of taking care of my girls than I am. He keeps their blood flowing, their hearts beating, and their lungs breathing. He is not only all-powerful; He is good. Take heart Christian, your Father has you.
